Athena

owlshaman.jpg

What would Athena do?  In this modern era, she may not change impious braggarts into spiders but she can still inspire heroes.  Athena is a complex goddess who evolved in many different ways from her possibly late Paleolithic origins.

Her talents are multitude and her effects far-reaching.  Her role in the women's mysteries have been corrupted by both ancient and Christian patriarchies and feminist interpretations, obscuring her lessons by alienating her very gender.  Athena, for one thing, did not suffer idiots.

Let us tear away the veils of time and rediscover Athena.  It will never be the Athena of old.  Instead, the goddess is reborn - fully grown from the brows of a new generation who love her - and will conquer with her wisdom once more.

That's what Athena will do!

A DEDICATION

I trust in the strength of Athena, for her strength is my strength.  I am strong enough to take whatever the world throws at me and there will be nothing that will break my spirit.

I will choose my battles wisely so I don't waste energy battling hopeless causes.  When I fight for something, let it be something that will make a real difference!  I  intend to win.

I trust in the wisdom of Athena and what she reveals to me through knowledge, intuition, and dreams.  I will always seek new mental challenges and adventures.  I will revel in learning new things.  As I age, I aspire to grow wise.  May my children and grandchildren gain from me a love of learning, curiousity, and a sense of humor.  After all, if you can't laugh at yourself you're just not smart enough to see what's so funny.

I will create beauty through as many different artistic mediums that I can.  I will look for new, unique ways to accomplish goals, be inventive, and think outside the box.  Athena grants me creative inspiration and expects me to use it.  I know all the tools I need are here within me.

I will be a protector of my family, friends, and home as Athena was the Protector of Cities.  These elements are my domain and I am their loving guardian.

I will be a mother and mentor, for my own children and others.  Athena nurtured heroes, proving that one need not physically give birth to a child to care for their welfare.  I will be a mentor to children, read to them, inspire them, and cherish them for they are the future of our world.  Who knows what heroes will be needed in this age?

I will be a loving wife and soul-mate to my husband, who is my Herakles.  As we combine our intellects, hearts, and souls we become more powerful and passionate than we would have been alone.
