The Ascension movement, which many consider a twentienth century phenomenon, is actually a flowery and prolific offshoot of Theosophy.

Theosophy, an ancient Greco-Egyptian theurgic worldview, was revived by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky in the late 1800s under the direction of Ascended Masters, evolved human beings assigned to guide the spiritual development of mankind by higher planetary powers.

The Theosophical Society was responsible for preserving obscure esoteric lore that would otherwise have been lost and is credited with opening the doors of the West to Eastern thought. The New Age movement can trace its roots directly back to Theosophy's sacred springs.

In the neo-theosophical teachings, based on the hidden lore of the ages, there are seven rays, each one possessing different qualities, through which the divine energies of creation flow into our reality.  Each ray is governed by a pair of Elohim, who are builders of form.

Hercules and Pallas Athene, under the name Amazonia, are the Elohim of the First Ray, which is assigned the color blue.

The First Ray is the emanation of power, protection and the embodiment of divine will.
