HESTIA'S HEARTHFIRE
HELLENIC HOME SCHOOLING
This group is for homeschooling
parents who follow the Hellenic religion. Those who are followers of Hellenismos who are interested in homeschooling but aren't
sure where to start are welcome to join as well.
HELLENION PROTO-DEMOS TES HAGNES PERSEPHONES We are a Hellenic reconstructionist group serving the north-western part of PA, and south-western part of NY. Our name is Greek, and roughly translates as “The congregation of the Pure (or Holy) Persephone.” We are hard polytheists who worship the gods of ancient Greece. By “hard polytheists” we mean that we believe that each of the gods and goddesses individually exist. We worship Zeus, Aphrodite, Hermes, and all of the gods from the culture of ancient Greece, from the time period called the “Classical Age.” We have a special devotion to Persephone, but we do worship all the gods. We are reconstructionists because we structure our rituals and beliefs system in such a way as was done at that time. By saying this, we understand that we do not have complete accounts of what the rituals were like, etc. but we try to the best of our ability to be faithful to the Hellenic spirit as we “fill in the gaps” with our best educated ideas of what it might have been like. As academics and archeology continue to make progress towards a fuller understanding of religion in ancient Greece, we wish to stay informed of these findings, and will alter our practices accordingly. We also are quick to point out which practices are documented from ancient times, and which practices are newer “inventions” to give us a well-rounded religions practice.Anyone who has an interest in our gods is more than welcome to attend any of our public events. All we ask is that you be respectful of our beliefs and practices. http://persephones.250free.com/PANDORA'S BOX THIASOS
ASKLEPIOS
Those who listen can hear the call of the old gods. And we are returning to them. The religion of the ancient Greeks, often called Hellenismos, teaches us that we are accountable for our lives. And hopefully it inspires us to live up to that accountability. We are expected to take right actions in our lives, actions that would live up to our gods' expectations. Asklepios is the god of medicine and healing. His daughter, Hygeia, is the goddess of good health. An online group, Thiasos Asklepios, is dedicated to their worship. The emphasis of the thiasos is on the active worship of Asklepios and Hygeia, however the importance of living up the values and ideals promoted by the deities of medicine and good health is stressed as the primary way to honor them. Topics of discussion include the religion of Hellenismos, the character and cult of Asklepios and Hygeia, and information on achieving and maintaining good health. Free membership is open to all with a sincere interest. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Thiasos_Asklepios Larger than Life Living in the
