"Imagine, I proposed, if our favorite sword-and-sorcery characters shared the same settings and time-frames. What if...

What if Fafhrd and Mouser had just finished a successful heist. With an angry crowd at their heels, they pull one of their notorious double-back escapes and elude the pursuing throng. Now suppose this angry, torch-waving pack runs head-long into Conan, hot and tired from the trail, his dead horse a day's walk behind him. All he wants is a jug of wine and a wench. Instead, he's confronted by a lynch mob. What if his saddlebags are full of loot from one of his own ventures, yet undiscovered?

Or what if Kane and Elric took jobs marshalling opposite armies in the same war?

Why, I proclaimed, the possibilities are endless."

Robert Lynn Aspirin
THE MAKING OF THIEVES' WORLD

In honor of Robert Lynn Aspirin's 's bold vision and what subsequently resulted from it we're incorporating the Thieves' World anthologies and related literature into our Hyborian Campaigns.

In our schema Sanctuary is Tarantia's Khorotas Ward, a small town outside of the capitol's defensive walls. The published tales, with minor Hyborian adjustments, will unfold as originally written. Below is the progression of stories and how they have been woven into the Age of Conan:
JAMIE THE RED:
by Gordon R. Dickson with Roland Green

An account of the banishment and early wanderings of Jamie the Red, barbarian hero.

BEYOND THE DAR-AL-HARB:
 by Gordon R. Dickson
An account of Jamie the Red's adventures in the Near Eastern Lands.

THE ARMIES OF ELFLAND:
THE VALOR OF CAPPEN VARRA
by Poul Anderson
Cappen Varra survives his misadventures with a band of barbaric sea-rovers, a mythic troll and a princess with grand plans.

ANVIL OF CROM: Chapter II
THE PATH OF LIES
Cappen Varra then makes his way toward Asgard and the Court of Hrulf Coalhair. In his report to Prospero, Chancellor of Aquilonia, Cappen Varra reveals that the recovery of the Horn has not brought peace to Hrulf's people. They are now under relentless assault from a supernatural creature immune to both weapons and magick.

THIEVES' WORLD: Volume I
