Backstory VII

'While Conan seeks the Heart of Aquilonia in distant lands, Cimmeria is threatened by the get of Ymir.'

Blood of Wolves

Kern Wolf-Eye is an outcast from Gaud, deemed to be a drain on his tribe's meager resources during a lingering winter the likes of which has never been seen in mist-shrouded Cimmeria.

And Kern is not like his fellow tribesmen: his hair and skin are very pale, almost white, and his eyes are amber-gold. In fact, his coloration is much like that of the Ymirish, half-giant followers of the god-like Grimnir who leads the marauding Vanir.

A dire wolf befriends and follows Kern, as do other Cimmerian outcasts. In time they are a dangerous pack with an impossible mission: to halt Grimnir's depradations, destroy the Ymirish and drive the red-hairs back into Vanaheim.

Cimmerian Rage

Cimmeria's disunity allows the Vanir to pillage and burn their homeland with relative impunity.

Kern realizes that the Cimmerian clans must unite and wage war under one banner if Grimnir and his forces are to be defeated.

His pack grows to include more than renegade Cimmerians. Besides Frostpaw, his wolf, Kern is served by a rogue Shemite and a handful of Aquilonians loyal to Conan.

Though Kern is earning a reputation as a great leader and the last hope for his people's survival, many of his kinsmen still oppose him or refuse him aid.

Songs of Victory

His pack scattered by the Ymirish giant Torgvall, the Cimmerian forces crushed and his tenuous alliances shattered, Kern surrenders his leadership to quest for a legendary weapon hidden deep in the House of Crom.

Willing to sacrifice all to ensure the survival of his people, Kern discovers that the greatest victories can sometimes be won through defeat and that one's greatest enemies often lie within.

By becoming the least of his Cimmerian brethren Kern emerges first and gains his heart's desires: he wins the heart of his true love, regains his wolf-pack and leads his people to victory.
