Trial of Blood, the Hyborian mega-campaign by Bryan Steele, resurrects
the shade of lost Atlantis to threaten King Conan's realm. Thoth Amon, the Cimmerian monarch's arch nemesis, King Ctesphon
of Stygia and the Setite witch Nephanari set in motion a hideous scheme to fulfill an ancient prophecy.
Starting off in a tavern in Conan's capitol city
of Tarantia, the adventurers travel to Sicas and Tor, also in Aquilonia, before proceeding to Orinolo, an island off the coast
of Argos and Shem.
Though the mystery they are investigating
remains elusive, enough is revealed about missing virgins, strange birthmarks and relentless Stygian riders far from
home to hint at a bigger picture.
Dexitheus, Conan's advisor and High Priest of Aquilonia's
Mitran clergy, helps them from afar by providing guidance and advice.
Onward to Messantia and then the Black
Coast on the good ship Indigo Storm. From there overland to the no man's land where the borders of Stygia, Kush and Darfar
meet. This is an exciting read for an RPG module and I'm enjoying the unfolding saga.
The final battle brings the adventurers full circle
to Stygia and by now the fate of the Hyborian Age hangs in the balance. I can't wait to actually run this!
Prophecy Points, a gaming device introduced
in Conan: Trial of Blood that tightens the story and influences outcomes is an intriguing tool that I look forward to
experimenting with as a GM.
Introducing plot threads into our current Hyborian Age
campaign should prove fun, though Conan has yet to wed Zenobia or father an heir in our present continuity.
One thing for sure, 2009 is going to be an epic year for our Gamers.
Thanks again Mongoose!
