The Black Stones of Kovag-Re, the first adventure scenario available for the Conan RPG, starts in Arenjun, Zamora's notorious city of thieves (as did several of Conan's early adventures). It is designed for a low-level party and serves as an excellent portal for further Hyborian adventuring.

Julianna, the bride of Arenjun's corpulent and corrupt governor Oleksa the Stout, has been kidnapped. Or so claims an angy Oleksa, who charges the adventurers with rescuing her.

En route, there are numerous perils to be overcome: warriors, bandits, savage beasts, sorcerous artefacts... and the fane of an ancient abomination forever craving blood.

As befits a tale set in Conan's world, the machinations of fellow mortals are often more deadly than the supernatural terrors one encounters.

This scenario definitely makes for a memorable session of primal barbaric fun. A worthy addition to Mongoose's ever expanding Conan product line.

For those intent on adventuring elsewhere, guidelines are provided for ransplanting the adventure to Turan or Aquilonia; with a little imagination a GM can set it anywhere on the Thurian Continent or even beyond, into other worlds of Sword & Sorcery.
