Book I: Odyssey
Everyone with a firm conviction must, at some
point, fight for that which they believe.
Seton the centaur champions the violated forests
of Krosan. Laquatus the mer forever schemes for more power and position. The Order is fanatically devoted to squelching yesterday's
follys. The Cabal plays to win in all their transactions.
Enter Kamahl, already a gladiator of renown,
wielding a great sword made from the legendary Staff of Urza. He fights to prove himself 'the best'.
The prize: an enigmatic artifact from before
the apocalypse; a shiny orb known as the Mirari. This glowing sphere magnifies dreams and grants wishes. It also ultimately
destroys those who possess it, and all that they hold dear.
After many heroic trials and tribulations, Kamahl
is cheated by circumstance. He sees the Mirari as his rightful prize and seeks to retrieve it. Unbenownst to our hero, the
sphere he covets has granted the Order the crystalline purity they've been seeking and taken Abosham, Emperor of the deep,
to the logical conclusion of his most paranoid fantasies.

Book II: Torment
There's always more to every story. In Torment we revisit
Chainer, a minor character we met (briefly) back in Book I. You see, it was Chainer who found the Mirari and brought it to
the Cabal in the first place. Chainer's Torment starts a bit before, and ends a bit after, the events chronicled in Odyssey.
Chainer is a selfless soul, loyal to Skellum, his mentor,
and Cabal to the bone. He is a dementist with a lot of potential and actually becomes Kamahl's close friend. We find out more
about their time together, more about the Order, the Mer Empire and much more about the Cabal in this installment.
Individuals like Chainer, self-sacrificing and focused on
the greater good, are often the most dangerous of all. Especially when they can give shape and substance to their worst nightmares.
And Chainer, even before reclaiming the Mirari, was frighteningly adept at projecting his own madness.
The Order has declared holy war on the Cabal, Kamahl has returned
to claim his prize, Laquatus uses mind-control to track the orb as he needs it to claim his throne. Yet it is Chainer
who poses the greatest threat to his beloved Cabal City.

Book III: Judgement
What happens once you've attained your greatest
dream? What do you do when you finally have the power to shape events to your will?
Kamahl is undisputedly the greatest warrior
of his age. And he now wields the ultimate weapon. What's a wandering barbarian to do? Ghengis and Atilla unified their scattered
tribesmen into a deadly fighting force. Can Kamahl do less?
Due to Laquatus' manipulations, Kamahl is hunted
by both the Order and the Cabal. The mer-mage, pitting all sides against each other, has arrived at the foothills of the Pardic
Mountains to claim the sphere himself. And Kamahl's world collapses around him, though he's triumphed over every adversity
and followed the harsh dictates of his own barbaric code to the letter.
What price will Kamahl pay to attain his heart's
desire? Will he sacrifice family and friends? Will he sacrifice his humanity? And what is humanity anyway?
Though the Odyssey Cycle ends here, the adventures
of Kamahl and the Mirari do not. Kamahl, transformed by his tragedies, wends his way through Magic the Gathering's Onslaught
Trilogy.
