“Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Lend me your ears!” rang out at a recent Honesdale Rotary
meeting where Thor the Barbarian along with Jacci West announced the first ever Fighting Words—eXtreme Spelling Bee
to be held this Saturday, March 27th at the Lake Wallenpaupack Area Middle School between 2:30 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.
“First Book Wayne/Pike along with Wayne
Pike Adult Literacy, two titans in the arena of local literacy, have teamed up for this fundraising event,” said Jacci
West, executive director of Wayne Pike Adult Literacy, “We’ve joined forces to offer the spelling bee to raise
funds and awareness for both organizations. Our goal is to eradicate illiteracy from both ends of the spectrum.
Wayne Pike Adult Literacy provides tutoring for those 17 and over and First Book provides new books to children from birth
through high school.:
